'Dance of the Enchantress'

Mohiniyattam, the dance of the Enchantress originated in Kerala (Southern India). The characteristic feature of this dance form is the swinging movements akin to the swaying of the coconut trees and lush green paddy fields of the land of its origin also known as ‘Gods own country’. The technicalities of Mohiniyattam follows the great Indian scriptures like Natyashastra, Hastalakshnadeepika and Balaramabharatham. Great importance is given to body kinetics and Abhinaya in this art form. Lots of discipline, continuous hard work and dedication is required to master this extremely graceful and sensuous artform.
